David Galvez, guitarist

Hailing from Lima, Peru, David Galvez is a distinguished guitarist whose performances have resonated across the globe. He has graced international stages with his solo and chamber recitals, and has been welcomed as a guest soloist by esteemed orchestras including the Manhattan Philharmonic Orchestra perfoming Concierto del Sur by Manuel Ponce, Capital Philharmonic Orchestra in New Jersey performing Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo, The Philadelphia Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra performing Concerto in D by Antonio Vivaldi, The National Symphony Orchestra in Lima Peru perfoming Concierto for Guitar by Heitor Villa Lobos, Trujillo Orchestra of Peru performing Concierto del Sur by Manuel Ponce, and Grand Rapids Opera in Michigan performing the guitar part of Maria de Buenos Aires by Astor Piazzolla .

Galvez’s musical journey has entailed duets with the renowned tenor Juan Diego Florez, alongside the Fortworth Symphony Orchestra, under the Decca London Music Label. His musical prowess extends to the realm of arrangement, with several of his works published by the esteemed Lathkill Publication in the United Kingdom.

Mr. David Galvez achieved the feat of clinching the Edwin & Leigh Concerto Competition in New York City and he secured top prizes in successive editions of the Schadt String Competition in Pennsylvania.

Galvez honed his craft at the National Conservatory of Lima, and his pursuit of musical mastery led him to earn both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from the Manhattan School of Music in New York. Complementing his musical expertise, he holds a bachelor’s degree in communication science from Peru’s Lima University.

Currently, David Galvez imparts his knowledge and artistry as a guitar professor at the Long Island Conservatory in New York.
